Intersex: Herm, Merm, Ferm
journal #2
there are male and female in this world, but are there really people considered as someone in between those two classifications? some that has never been into our imagination before? well, obviously, they do exist and there are proofs of their existence. i'm talking about people who are neither male nor female, they are called "Intersex."
-->so what is intersex, and who are these people?
true hermaphrodites:
also called Herms, they are people who have one testes and one ovary and produces gonads of both sexes.
hermaphrodite comes from the greek names hermes and aphrodite.
male pseudohermaphrodites:
also called Merms, they are people who do not have ovaries but has female genitalia.
female pseudohermaphrodites:
also called Ferms, they are people who do not have testes but has male genitalia.
-->my personal reaction to these people...
well, honestly, i found them very strange and really very rare. personally i do not know how i should treat these people if ever i would encounter one, well of course, because their gender and sexuality is really a big question mark to me. i can say that, it is really very difficult to become one of them for they are always seen, most of the time negatively, by the society and they go through so much discrimination and bias judgment, however, they are still humans like us, maybe just a bit special but they still need the same respect that most of us wanted.
and yes, i'm wondering which comfort room they would go :)
